GOLF POWERPOINT

Given what I know now, what would I change to make my public speaking experience more meaningful and professional?

There is a poll out there that states people are more afraid of public speaking then death. I fit under this poll; I have always been scared to speak in front of my peers.  I practiced this presentation many times, and during these practice sessions I went over the time that was given of 5 minutes. This made it hard to get through all of my material I had planned.  I planned great transitions and sources I would cite throughout the presentation.  Halfway through my speech I got the 4 minute signal, meaning I would need wrap up my presentation.  I was not ready, if I would have read more of the “Communicating at Work.” I would have had a better experience.

In “Communicating at work” it states to have a basic organization plan (Adler & Elmhorst p. 318). Because I was short on time I left out necessary information which included going through some of the benefits of golf.  To have a more effective presentation you need to cite your sources (Adler & Elmhorst p. 356-357). By not sticking to the time constraints of the speech I was only able to cite 2 of the required 3 sources.  Overall once I was up there I did just fine, I don’t think anyone had a perfect presentation.
